Culture Night 2021 - Friday 17 September

Welcome to the 6th Culture Night that the Department of Finance is hosting for South Block, which because of public health guidelines, is taking place virtually this year. That allows us to share the history, heritage and culture of the iconic South Block of the Government Buildings campus, home to both the Department of Finance and the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform.

Staff from across both departments will share their own experiences of working in such a historic location as well as stories from nearly a century of economic public policy that mirrors the foundation and growth of the State.

This also includes a visit to the archives of the department and a showcase of some of the historical artefacts that form part of the cultural heritage of South Block and as an added bonus we also have an interview with Dr Ciaran Casey of UCD who is writing the history of the Department of Finance from the period 1959 to 1999.
