Tánaiste has spoken with Central Bank Governor and Revenue Chairman on first full day as Minister for Finance

Tánaiste and the newly appointed Minister for Finance, Simon Harris, in his first full day at the Department of Finance, spoke with the Governor of the Central Bank and the Chairman of the Revenue Commissioners.

The Tánaiste also met with the Minister for Public Expenditure, Infrastructure, Public Service Reform and Digitalisation, Jack Chambers TD, as well as Department of Finance Officials.

Speaking this evening, the Tánaiste said:

“Today was my first full day as Minister for Finance – a role that I am very much honoured to serve in.

“I was pleased to begin this new role by speaking with both the Governor of the Central Bank Gabriel Mahklouf, the Chairman of the Revenue Commissioners Niall Cody, as well as meeting Minister Jack Chambers and my Department officials.

“There is a huge body of work to do in the weeks and months ahead. As Minister for Finance, I am determined to continue the strong stewardship of the economy and strengthen our public finances.”
