Eimear Kenny

Dr. Eimear Kenny, PhD, is an Endowed Chair and Professor of Genomic Health and Founding Director of the Institute for Genomic Health at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. An Irish-born scientist, she has an internationally recognised career focused on large-scale genomics, computational methods for biomedical research, and the responsible integration of genomics and computer science into healthcare and policy.

Dr. Kenny’s research develops and applies computational and analytic methods to understand how human genetic diversity shapes disease risk, with a strong emphasis on equitable translation into clinical and public health practice. She has led multi-institutional programmes that combine genomics, electronic health records, machine learning, and pragmatic clinical studies to generate evidence about real-world benefit, implementation challenges, and health equity outcomes. Her expertise spans both technical domains (genomics, data science, AI) and translational systems (biobanks, health systems, digital tools), positioning her to bridge scientific complexity and policy needs.

Dr. Kenny has advised international governments, funding agencies, and international organisations on science policy, data infrastructure, and emerging technology governance.
