Ministers Lawless and Harkin want to hear from you on the next Action Plan for Apprenticeship

Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science James Lawless TD and Minister of State for Further Education, Apprenticeship, Construction and Climate Skills, Marian Harkin TD have today launched a public consultation on the next Action Plan for Apprenticeship which will set the strategic vision for apprenticeship and work integrated learning pathways in Ireland from 2026 to 2030.
Minister Lawless said:
“2026 will see the biggest investment in apprenticeship since the foundation of my Department. With total current funding for apprenticeship at over €410 million, the Government’s commitment to apprenticeship is clear.
“Numbers of apprentices and apprentice employers are growing year on year, and this growth must continue to support national priorities, including infrastructure delivery. We are committed to an apprenticeship system where learners gain the right skills for a changing workplace, and where new employers and apprentices from all backgrounds are attracted and retained. Now is your chance to shape what apprenticeship and work-integrated learning will look like for the next five years. I urge everyone involved to complete the questionnaire.”
Minister Harkin said:
“Innovation has been at the heart of the apprenticeship system, with significant changes over the last decade, including the launch of consortia-led apprenticeships in 2016. We want to continue exploring new ideas and learning from best practice. Please take the questionnaire and share your views.”
