Office of Government Procurement

The Office of Government Procurement was established in 2014 and is responsible for shaping and delivering Ireland’s commitment to national and EU public procurement priorities, namely a future for public procurement that is transparent and socially, environmentally and economically sustainable.

The OGP is also a central purchasing body, along with sector partners in Health, Local Government, Education and Defence, the OGP has responsibility for sourcing commonly used goods and services on behalf of the public service. The OGP implements framework agreements and contracts through which public sector bodies can procure goods and services efficiently while ensuring compliance and achieving value for money.

Other key functions include

  • Strengthening spend analytics and data management
  • Supporting professional procurement practices
  • Supporting SME access to public procurement
  • Encouraging the uptake of central procurement arrangements
  • The development of National Public Procurement Policy and National Strategy
  • Representing Ireland at EU level for all Procurement related matters including Directives and legislation

The OGP manages the Ireland's national tendering platform, eTenders and works to advance the digitalisation of public procurement in Ireland.

The OGP operates as part of the Department of Public Expenditure, Infrastructure, Public Service Reform and Digitalisation.
