Better Public Services - Newsletter March 2026

The March edition of the Better Public Services newsletter, with all the latest public service transformation news and information is out now and features;

Ireland is a world leader in Digital Government and Open Data for Better Public Services – two new international reports show that Ireland ranks among world leaders across the EU and OECD countries, having ranked 5th out of 36 countries in Open Data Maturity rankings and 7th in the 2025 Digital Government index.

A Standardised Complaint handling policy will be implemented by all local authorities in 2026 – the policy was developed by Ombudsman Ger Deering’s office in conjunction with the County and City Management Association. Complaints are a key source of data and provide valuable insights which help us to provide a better experience for the public and help build trust in the services delivered by local authorities.

Shaping the future of Ireland public sector workforce – the Civil Service have partnered with CIPD to build capability, consistency and confidence across its HR community. This new development is another step forward in the 2030 Better Public Services Strategy ambition for a workforce that is skilled, motivated and supported by modern policies and inclusive cultures.
