The Office of Government Procurement achieves CIPS Corporate Ethical Procurement Kitemark for the second year

The Office of Government Procurement (OGP) has been awarded the Corporate Ethical Procurement and Supply certification from the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) for the second year running. The certification showcases the OGP’s dedication to ethical sourcing, responsible supply chain management and the highest standards of corporate ethics.

To achieve this recognition, all sourcing staff working in the OGP completed ethical procurement training, addressing environmental procurement, human rights, fraud, bribery and corruption. The Sourcing and Professional Practice teams had 100% uptake on this training, with the OGP meeting the standard to apply for the CIPS Corporate Ethical Procurement Kite Mark and a listing on the CIPS Corporate Ethical Register.

Minister of State with special responsibility for Public Procurement, Digitalisation and eGovernment Emer Higgins said:

“I want to extend my congratulations to colleagues in the OGP on this important accreditation. The procurement of goods and services from ethical sources is fundamental to achieving positive environmental, social and economic impacts when it comes to public buying. It is crucial that we have the skills to ensure fair working conditions down through supply chains, as well as considering environmental impacts of public contracts. Ethical and sustainable procurement can also encourage firms interested in competing for Government contracts to implement green practices or consider social aspects of their business, and we want social enterprises to have better access to public procurement opportunities. These are some of the key issues we will address at our Government Supply Expo which is being held in the Aviva on 11 November’.”

Ben Farrell Global CEO - CIPS, presented the Accreditation Award and extended his congratulations to the OGP on achieving the CIPS Corporate Ethical procurement Kite Mark certification.

Increasing the procurement and commercial capability among staff is one way that the OGP have implemented ethical values into the management and sourcing of central procurement solutions.
