John Brophy

John Brophy is a co-founder and director of Reidy Brophy Ltd, specialists in the area of crisis, emergency and Business continuity management. Working across the public and private sectors he has vast experience in developing senior leadership teams’ preparedness for managing the impact of unplanned events, and in the development of contingency plans. He has designed and facilitated exercises at National level in the NECC, and at local and regional levels in Ireland, and has conducted multi-national exercises including on behalf of the EU.

John is a founder member and a board member of the Emergency Management Institute Ireland and is a former chairman of the Emergency Planning Society ROI branch. He is a long-time member of the Learning and Development Institute (formerly IITD) and is a Fellow of the Institute for Strategic Risk Management.

John holds a master’s in emergency management from Dublin City University and has lectured at master’s level in Dublin City University and in UCG. He has a BSc in Microbiology and Biochemistry (UCG) and a post-grad diploma in Training and Development from DIT.

John served as an Infantry officer in the Defence Forces for 19 years, including UN service in the middle east and EU service in Bosnia.
