24 September 2025 | National Fireworks Campaign Launched
The Director of the National Office for Community Safety today attended the launch by Minister O’Callaghan of a new national awareness raising campaign targeting the misuse of illegal fireworks.
Launched in collaboration with An Garda Síochána, the Irish Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ISPCA), Irish Guide Dogs, and Dublin Fire Brigade, the campaign warns again the serious risks posed by illegal fireworks and the strict penalties for their misuse.
16 – 18 September 2025 | National Office team at the Ploughing
The National Office for Community Safety team are at the National Ploughing Championships 16 – 18 September 2025 and are asking the public about their views on community safety in preparation for developing a new National Strategy for Improving Community Safety. They are inviting people to come see them at Block 4, Stand 293. If you are going to the Ploughing why not pop along and see them?
30 June 2025 | Green Light for New Local Community Safety Partnerships Nationwide
The Minister for Justice, Home Affairs and Migration Jim O’Callaghan has signed regulations, which come into effect today (Monday 30 June), that provide for the establishment of Local Community Safety Partnerships in each local authority area across the country.
At a local level, community safety partnerships will play a major role in enhancing community safety nationwide in collaboration with An Garda Síochána, local residents, businesses and state agencies.
7 April 2025 | The Community Safety Fund 2025 Launch
The Community Safety Fund, which allow the proceeds of crime seized by the Criminal Assets Bureau (CAB) and An Garda Síochána to be directed into local projects that support community safety, was launched on Monday 7th April 2025 by Minister Jim O’Callaghan.
€4m is available for grants of €20,000 - €150,000.
