SI No 567 of 2021 European Union (Copyright and Related Rights in the Digital Single Market) Regulations 2021

These Regulations, made pursuant to the European Communities Act 1972, transpose Directive 2019/790/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 17 April 2019. These Regulations also further amend the Copyright and Related Rights Act 2000 (as amended).

These Regulations strengthen the rights and protections afforded to various categories of rightsholders in order to reflect the impact of technological advances and increased digitisation. They also provide for wider access and use of copyright protected works to the potential benefit of the creative sectors, press publishers, researchers, educators, cultural heritage institutions, and citizens.
