Digital Ireland House Editor in the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade is launching a recruitment campaign for the purpose of recommending persons for appointment to the above position in that Department.
The Government’s Global Ireland 2025 initiative included the development of www.ireland.ie as a central digital hub for information relating to the Government’s international engagement, with connections to all embassies and consulates (missions) and state agencies in countries abroad.
The Digital Ireland House Editor will be responsible for overall co-ordination and curation of content for publication on ireland.ie. The Editor will work closely with stakeholders across DFAT, government departments and state agencies and will sit within the Communications Unit of the Global Ireland and Economic Division. The Digital Ireland House Editor will be required to be a key part of the Communications Unit management team and will work closely with DFAT HQ business units, missions, the Communications Network, other government departments and state agencies.
Essential Requirements:
The successful candidate must have, on or before 23 May 2025.
- Minimum of five years’ relevant experience of managing at a senior level in fields including, but not limited to: journalism (incl. digital), digital media, editing, publishing, marketing, copywriting, digital publishing, digital diplomacy, communications, user experience or design;
- A Level 8 degree, ideally in a relevant field,
- Excellent communication skills – written and oral;
- Experience with multimedia and digital platforms;
- Project management experience;
- Ability to build consensus and relationships among team members, senior stakeholders and managers;
- Strong leadership skills;
- A creative, flexible and adaptable approach and an ability to work to tight deadlines/under pressure; and,
- An understanding of international affairs and Ireland’s foreign policy, international values and objectives. They should be familiar with Ireland’s public service frameworks and entities.
