Statement by Minister McEntee on the Israeli Security Cabinet decision to expand control in the Occupied West Bank

I am deeply concerned by decisions taken by the Israeli Security Cabinet to expand Israeli control over the West Bank. Today in Brussels, I raised these concerns with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission Kaja Kallas.

These measures contravene international law and are part of an established pattern to create a new status quo in the occupied Palestinian territory.

Unilateral actions such as these increase tensions and put at risk the ceasefire in Gaza as well as international efforts to secure peace and stability.

I call on Israel to immediately rescind these decisions in full.
