Minister O’Brien announces appointment of Chair of the Board of daa

The Minister for Transport, Darragh O’Brien, has today announced the appointment of Mr. Gary Owens as the Chairperson of daa, to take effect from 14 June 2026.
“I am delighted to appoint Gary Owens as Chairperson to the Board of daa for a five-year term. I wish him well in the role as Chairperson of daa, which manages and operates both Dublin and Cork Airports, along with the international businesses Aer Rianta Ireland and daa International.
“Mr. Owens currently serves as Chair to Dublin Bus and is a Director on the Board of the CIE Group, and will continue in that role until a successor is appointed. Mr Owen’s wealth of experience in governance and state board leadership will help guide the daa Board in delivering on daa’s mandate over the coming years. I wish him every success as he takes on the role of chairing the Group.”Minister for Transport, Darragh O'Brien
The Minister also thanked the outgoing Chair, Mr. Basil Geoghegan, noting the significant contribution he has made to the Group since he was appointed in 2018, serving as Chair during some of the most challenging years for both daa and the wider aviation sector.
