Focused Policy Assessment: HSE Adult Disability Day Services

This focused policy assessment examines the Health Service Executive’s (HSE) specialist day services for adults with a disability. These services are an important support for people with a disability and their families, underpinned by the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD), New Directions (HSE policy governing this area) and related policy. This FPA aims to:

• Describe current adult day services provision.
• Provide an assessment of the current policy and approach to funding and delivering day services.
• Describe the guidance and profiling process by which resources are allocated to service providers based on the support needs of the individual.
• Provide insight into some of the policy risks and highlight potential areas for improvements.
