Location: Board meetings will be primarily held Middletown, County Armagh

Number of Vacancies: One Director.

Remuneration: Members of this Board are paid a daily rate of Stg£160 (or Euro equivalent). Travel and subsistence allowances may be claimed in accordance with Government guidelines. Serving Public Servants do not receive Remuneration.

Time Requirements: Anticipated time commitment of approximately 1-2 days per month for Directors.

Background:

The Department of Education and Youth is seeking to appoint one Director to the Board of the Middletown Centre for Autism Limited, a company limited by guarantee (MCAL). Applications are welcome from those with an interest in serving in the education sector including those who have not previously held a position in this area and those from the community, voluntary, social, clinical and other sectors.

MCA is an executive non-departmental public body of the Department of Education and Youth and is a north south initiative between the Department of Education Northern Ireland and the Department of Education and Youth Ireland. MCA is jointly funded by both Departments and an equal number of appointments to the MCA Board is made by each Department.

The role of the Directors is to support the Chair and Vice-Chair in setting the MCA’s strategic direction and to ensure that it is effective, accountable and provides value for money. Full details on the role and selection criteria are set out in the information pack.

Term of Appointment: The term of appointment will run until 31st March 2027.
