Where the decision is not published on the day the decision is made, the number of working days shall be extended by the number of working days (or part thereof) that elapsed between the decision day and the publication of the decision but shall not exceed the period of 28 days specified in section 14A(4)(a) of the Agriculture Appeals Act 2001. Appeals must be in writing, setting out the grounds and including a statement of the facts and contentions upon which the appellant intends to rely, along with any documentary evidence s/he wishes to submit in support of the appeal.

An application to review the substantive or procedural legality of a decision may be made by way of application for judicial review under Order 84 of the Rules of the Superior Courts (S.I. No. 15 of 1986). Practical information on the appeal and review mechanism can be found on the Citizens Information website. The Citizens Information Board is a statutory public authority which provides information on public services and entitlements in Ireland.
