Minister Dooley supports Irish Seafood suppliers at Seafood Expo Global 2026 in Barcelona

Minister of State at the Department for Agriculture, Food and the Marine with responsibility for Fisheries, Timmy Dooley TD, joined Bord Bia who are supporting a 20-member contingent of Irish seafood exporters showcasing their extensive range of products in the Bord Bia Origin Green Pavilion at the 2026 Seafood Expo Global in Barcelona from 21 to 23 April.

Seafood Expo Global (SEG) is the world’s largest seafood trade fair, featuring more than 2,100 exhibitors from over 87 countries. Irish exhibitor participation is supported by Bord Bia whose Origin Green programme brings together Irelands food industry with the common goal of sustainable food production.

Speaking at the welcome address for Irish exhibitors, Minister Dooley said:

“Irish food and drink products were exported to over 180 markets in 2025, with total exports valued at more than €21 billion. The Irish seafood sector, the focus of today’s event, exported more than €672 million to more than 70 countries around the globe last year. Annually, over 200,000 tonnes of Irish seafood from pelagics and whitefish to shellfish, salmon and trout are exported by our seafood industry to all corners of the globe and the demand for premium quality, responsibly sourced seafood from Ireland remains very strong.”

“Irish seafood can be found in all corners of the globe, and this diversity of markets is a reflection on our rich marine environment and the resulting diversity of species we offer from Ireland. This is reflected by the large number of Irish seafood companies participating in the world’s largest seafood fair. Irish exporters place great value on product integrity and responsible practices which inevitably leads to sustainable long term business relations as we seek to offer the highest quality seafood.”

Concluding, Minister Dooley said:

“I’d like to thank our seafood companies for their continued efforts and above all I’d like to thank our customers for your loyalty and hope to count you among our close partners for many years to come.”
