D'fhógair an tAire Talmhaíochta, Bia agus Mara, Michael Creed TD, sonraí inniu maidir le pacáiste €2.2m a chuideoidh le 12 Údarás Áitiúla le Cósta tabhairt faoi 39 dtionscadal forbartha agus deisiúcháin ar chalafoirt agus ar fhánáin atá faoi úinéireacht acu agus na tionscadail sin a thabhairt chun críche (féach an tábla thíos le haghaidh sonraí). Cuirfear maoiniú ar fáil faoin bpacáiste seo d'obair chothabhála agus d'obair dheisiúcháin agus chun tacú le forbairt agus feabhas leanúnach shaoráidí na gcalafort lena n-áirítear roinnt forbairtí fóillíochta mara.
Dúirt an tAire:
"Tá ríméad orm a fhógairt go bhfuilimid chun leanúint leis an gclár atá againn chun cuidiú leis na hÚdaráis Áitiúla atá le cósta na bonneagair mara atá ceangailte le hiascaigh agus leis an dobharshaothrú atá faoi úinéireacht acu a dheisiú agus a fhorbairt."
Is cuid de Chlár Forbartha Caipitil Infreastruchtúir Cuanta Iascaigh agus Cósta 2019 na Roinne Talmhaíochta, Bia agus Mara é clár na nÚdarás Áitiúil, faoina ndéanann an Roinn suas le 75% de chostas iomlán na dtionscadal ceadaithe a chómhaoiniú agus faoina gcuireann an tÚdarás Áitiúil an fuílleach ar fáil.
Dúirt an tAire chomh maith:
"Tá ról ríthábhachtach ag na calafoirt faoi úinéireacht údarás áitiúil a fuair maoiniú faoi chlár na bliana seo maidir le folláine shóisialta agus eacnamaíoch na bpobal tuaithe le cósta. Sa bhreis ar an bhfostaíocht láithreach a bheidh ann le linn na hoibre, cuireann an maoiniú seo le forbairt leanúnach gníomhaíochtaí a bhaineann le hiascaireacht, leis an méid rannpháirtíochta i bhfóillíocht mhara agus i mbeartais bhreise chun níos mó turasóirí a mhealladh mar gurb iad sin a chruthaíonn timpeallacht sa deireadh thiar thall do dheiseanna chun go mbeifear ábalta poist inmharthanacha a chruthú i gceantair faoin tuath."
