Danny O'Sullivan

Danny O’Sullivan is Principal Officer and Head of Strategic Performance and Innovation within the Planning Division. In this role, he has responsibility for leading a wide portfolio of strategic initiatives to support the effective delivery and modernisation of Ireland’s planning system.

Key areas of responsibility include the development of a National Planning System Performance Framework, oversight of the delivery of the Ministerial Action Plan on Planning Resources, and the strategic resourcing of the planning sector. He also leads on digital innovation initiatives, including the national roll-out of e-Planning services throughout all of the Local Authorities and the development of a National Digital Planning System, which aims to drive efficiency, transparency, and accessibility in planning services nationwide.

In addition, he has responsibility for the operation of the Development Contributions Waiver Scheme, short-term letting (STL) regulations, and the development of National Planning Statements on both STL and Development Management. He also oversees matters relating to planning enforcement and fees regulations, such as the street furniture waiver. At divisional level, he coordinates the finance function and the management of legal cases
