- An t-eolas is déanaí:
Ireland’s growing population and economy are putting pressure on infrastructure and housing. To deliver new homes at scale, the Government is prioritising land activation and investing in the infrastructure needed to support housing development.
What We’re Doing
- Funding utilities and infrastructure to unlock housing sites.
- Ensuring a clear and consistent planning system.
- Aligning transport, infrastructure, and housing delivery.
- Removing blockages and improving coordination between all partners.
- Enforcing the Residential Zoned Land Tax.
- Strengthening the use of Compulsory Purchase Orders (CPOs).
Supporting Utility Providers
We are increasing investment in:
- Electricity infrastructure through EirGrid and ESB Networks.
- Water and wastewater services via Uisce Éireann.
To speed up delivery, we are:
- Reforming structures and removing barriers.
- Supporting agencies responsible for infrastructure development.
An independent Taskforce will soon publish an Action Plan to tackle delays and improve efficiency. This will ensure that the major investment outlined in the National Development Plan translates into faster delivery of essential infrastructure for housing.
