Land Prices and Housing Delivery
The cost of land is a big factor in building homes. When land is rezoned for development, its value goes up. The Government wants to make sure the State gets a fair share of this increase especially when public money is spent on new roads, transport, and other infrastructure to support housing.
To do this, the Government will introduce new measures after reviewing how development contributions work. This review will look at:
- How contributions affect the cost and viability of housing projects.
- How the State can secure enough funding to provide the infrastructure and facilities needed for new communities.
