Draft Parking Control (Amendment) Bye-Laws 2025

Tá an Comhairliúchán dúnta

Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council proposes to amend its current Parking Control Bye-Laws. The purpose of this amendment is to simplify how we adjust parking charges.

Currently, altering parking charges involves a process that requires amending the bye-laws themselves, which takes extensive time and resources. The proposed amendment would allow the Council to adjust these charges more efficiently through a Council resolution, meaning changes could be made via a vote by the Elected Members.

The power to set parking charges will continue to rest with the Elected Members; the proposed amendment does not alter the decision maker as regards future parking charges. This proposal does not alter any of the existing parking charges listed in the 2020 Bye-Laws. Its sole aim is to establish a future process for reviewing parking charges.

Furthermore, the Council no longer intends to charge for parking on public holidays. If this proposed amendment is approved, all public holidays listed below will be exempt from charges:

  • New Year's Day
  • St. Brigid's Day
  • St. Patrick's Day
  • Easter Monday
  • May Public Holiday
  • June Public Holiday
  • August Public Holiday
  • October Public Holiday
  • Christmas Day
  • St. Stephen’s Day
