Construction work at Limerick Opera Landmark building June 2026
Construction of the OPW's Landmark Building at Limerick's Opera Square

June 2 2026 - Limerick’s skyline is changing rapidly as the new 14-storey Landmark Office Building at Opera Square rises at pace.

Delivered by John Sisk & Son for the Office of Public Works, the structure has already reached Level 8 and exceeded 40 metres in height in the six weeks since core construction began — a major milestone for the project team.

A key driver behind this rapid progress is the use of ‘slipform’ construction technology to build the tower’s 70-metre central core. Unlike traditional methods, slipforming uses continuously moving formwork, allowing concrete to be poured around the clock as the structure steadily climbs upwards.

The approach significantly accelerates construction while reducing the need for extensive scaffolding and temporary works.

The building is due for occupation in 2029, and will provide modern energy efficient office accommodation for central government as part of a wider urban regeneration project in the heart of Limerick City.
