National Historic Properties (NHP) consists of 32 properties located throughout Ireland including Dublin Castle, Phoenix Park, Kilkenny Castle, Emo Court, Doneraile Court, Annes Grove, the Blasket Island Visitor Centre, Garinish Island, Battle of the Boyne site and others. The National Botanic Gardens, with a scientific and cultural remit, in Glasnevin and Kilmacurragh are also part of NHP.
The staffing and management of Áras an Uachtaráin also falls under the NHP remit. NHP presents these properties to visitors on a daily basis, manages the collections, ensures the conservation and preservation of the built and natural heritage, manages the landscapes for biodiversity, funds research into the history of these properties, presents exhibitions to engage with our visitors, engages with our local community and provides free school visits to primary and secondary schools.
