The Government is committed to respecting all traditions on this island equally. It recognises that developing a greater understanding of our shared history, in all its diversity, is essential to developing greater understanding and building a shared future.
Work is ongoing on the Decade of Centenaries Programme which focuses on the many significant centenaries occurring over the period 2012–2022, in a manner that is respectful to the different traditions and communities on the island of Ireland. The organisation of State Commemorations is coordinated by a number of Government Departments, Organisations and State Agencies.

Each year a number of State Commemorations are held to mark significant events in Irish history.
Information on Annual Commemorations is provided below with contact details for the Government Department/Organisation with responsibility for the organisation of each event.

2019 Commemorations
In addition to the Annual State Commemorations a number of commemorations will be held to mark significant centenaries this year.
On 21st January 2019 an event took place in the Mansion House to mark the 100th Anniversary of the first Dáil.
