Appointment of an Independent Chairperson to the Programme Implementation Board of the North East Inner City Initiative

The Government today agreed to the appointment of Ms Patricia King as the new Independent Chairperson of the Programme Implementation Board for the North East Inner City Initiative (NEIC).
Ms King, who will undertake the role with immediate effect, will lead the NEIC Programme Implementation Board in its work to deliver on the vision and actions as set out in the Mulvey Report (2017) and the current NEIC Strategic Plan 2024 – 2027.
Ms Patricia King is a former General Secretary of the Irish Congress of Trade Unions, serving in this role from 2015 - 2022. Ms King also served as vice-President of SIPTU from 2010 - 2015. She was involved in the creation of the National Employment Rights Authority and was a lead negotiator for the Croke Park Agreement.
Ms King is currently a Board member of the National Automatic Enrolment Retirement Savings Authority, Uisce Éireann and Chairperson of the External Oversight Body of the Defence Forces. She has previously served on the Boards of the RTÉ Authority, the National Roads Authority, the Dublin Airport Authority and the Apprenticeship Council.
