Appointments to the District Court

At its meeting yesterday, the Government agreed to nominate Máire Conneely, Solicitor and Brendan O’Reilly, Solicitor, for appointment as Ordinary Judges of the District Court by the President of Ireland.

Two vacancies arose in the District Court following the retirements of Judge Patrick Durcan on 15 May 2021 and Judge Terence J. W. Finn on 9 June 2021.

The Government has taken the necessary steps to formally advise President Higgins of the nomination in accordance with constitutional practice.
