Student Law Competition 2026

The Chief State Solicitor’s Office (CSSO) is delighted to announce that it has opened entries for its third annual student essay competition.

This year’s essay title is:

“As Ireland takes up the Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2026, please describe the impact of the EU Constitutional order in shaping law in Ireland”.

We welcome entries from current undergraduate degree students of law enrolled full time in a third-level institution in Ireland.

More information about the competition, including the full terms and conditions and how to apply, can be found in the competition notice.

We look forward to reading your essays and to meeting some of you at our prize-giving presentation.
