The vision of the first Family Justice Strategy is a modern, streamlined and user-friendly family justice system that supports simple, early, fair and – where possible – non-adversarial outcomes.
The Strategy was developed by a Family Justice Oversight Group chaired by the Department of Justice and made up of representatives across the family justice system.
The work of the Group was supported by two expert advisory groups, comprising stakeholder representatives from NGOs, legal practitioners, researchers and academics.
It was also informed by a wide ranging consultation process where relevant stakeholders, the public, children and young people who engage with the family justice system gave their views on how a modernised family justice system should look.
The Strategy will support the legislative changes proposed in the planned Family Court Bill.
It is envisaged that, through the implementation of the goals and actions in this Strategy:
Children and Young People Consultation Youth Friendly Report
Report on the Consultations with Children and Young People for the Family Justice Oversight Group
Submissions to the Future of Family Justice Consultation
