Prompt Payments in the Department of Public Expenditure,Infrastructure, Public Service Reform and Digitalisation


Introduction

The department adheres to the terms of the Prompt Payment Code of Conduct, which were set out in a government decision on 19 May 2009.

The objectives are to:

  • encourage and promote best practice between businesses and their supplier
  • improve cash flow between businesses
  • drive a change in payment culture
  • pay suppliers on time within the terms agreed at the outset of the contract, or in accordance with legislation
  • give clear guidance to suppliers by providing them with clear and easily accessible guidance on payment procedures

The department publishes its prompt payments returns on a quarterly basis.
