All personal data processed by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine will take place in accordance with the law on Data Protection and will only be for the purposes connected to the functions of this Department.

The following is specific information in relation to individuals whose personal data is collected in accordance with the Disability Act 2005, as well as staff members nominated Access Officers whose names are published on the DAFM website.
1. Specified purpose
Personal data is gathered and processed for the purpose of providing or arranging for and co-ordinating assistance and guidance, to persons with disabilities accessing services of the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine.
2. Legal basis
Data processing is necessary to comply with the legal obligation of the Disability Act 2005.
The recipients of the personal data are staff of the Co-Ordination unit, Corporate Affairs Division. Within the same purpose and legal basis outlined above, personal data can move through other Divisions of this Department.
4. Retention Period
The data collected for this purpose will be held by the Department for 6 years. After this time it will be marked for destruction and will be destroyed in line with internal guidelines or guidelines for destruction received from the National Archives Office or associated permissions received from them.
5. Data provision
The data provided for this purpose is being requested on a legal basis and if the customer chooses not to provide this information their request cannot proceed.

In circumstances where this Department did not gather the personal data the data subject is still entitled to exercise their rights in relation to this personal data and the details on how to exercise individuals rights are detailed above.
