Find Information and Forms on Breeding Waders

The department works to protect Ireland’s endangered birds, in particular breeding waders that are listed as species of concern. The department’s Forestry Programme 2023-2027 includes measures to reduce the impact of planting new forests on these birds. The department has incorporated maps from BirdWatch Ireland to reduce the impact of afforestation on wildlife. In some cases an assessment of the habitat and the possible impact on the species of concern will be required.
