DAFM will be contacting potential Nitrates Derogation applicants directly, where their land area’s maximum stocking rate will change to 220kg livestock manure nitrogen per hectare from the 1st of December 2025.

Nitrates Information
Under the Nitrates Regulations (S.I. 113 of 2022) farmers must not apply more than 170kgs of nitrogen from livestock manure per hectare per year. Compliance with the Nitrates Regulations is one of the Statutory Management Requirements under the Single Payment Scheme.
