Using two-factor authentication to log into AgFood.ie

Why has two-factor authentication been introduced on AgFood.ie?

To enhance security and to help protect our customers data, we have introduced two-factor authentication to login to AgFood.ie and MyAgFood.

How do I set up two-factor authentication on AgFood.ie?

Here’s how to set up two-factor authentication on AgFood.ie:

  1. Click the Login button
  2. Enter your username and click Continue
  3. Enter your password and click Login
  4. Enter your Personal Access Code (PAC) and click Login
  5. Enter your mobile number to get a one-time login code, then click Validate
  6. Enter the one-time code you receive on your phone and click Login

Once you've done this, you won’t need your PAC number again for subsequent logins. From now on, you will use a one-time code for logging in.

Please retain your PAC as this will be required if you need to update your registered mobile or reset your password.

How do I log-in to AgFood.ie once two-factor authentication has been set up?

Once two-factor authentication has been set up on AgFood.ie, you log-in by doing the following:

  1. Click the Login button.
  2. Enter your username, click Continue, then enter your password.
  3. Enter the one-time code sent to your phone and click Login.

Can I use MyGovID to log-in to AgFood.ie?

You have the option to access AgFood.ie using a MyGovID log in. This is a secure and convenient way to access multiple government services – no need to remember multiple usernames and passwords.

Log in process using Two Factor Authentication: Farmers, agents, companies and partners

1. Farmers

Use the guide below if you’re having trouble with your online 'Individual' account.

I forgot my username

Call the help desk with your PPSN and Date of Birth. A username cannot be changed. Make sure to store it safely.

I forgot my password

  1. Click 'Log In' on the homepage.
  2. Enter your username.
  3. On the password screen, click 'Forgot Password?'
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions using your Username, PPSN, and Date of Birth.

Two Factor Authentication (2FA)

For individual users (e.g. Herdkeepers) we are replacing the use of PAC at login time with 2 factor authentication. This adds an extra layer of security to your account by requiring a code from your phone in addition to your password.

Note: you will still need your PAC to reset your phone number so keep it safe.

First time login - SMS pass code setup

When you login, you will be prompted for your password, PAC and then asked for mobile phone number. A 6-digit code will be sent to that number which you need to use to login.

Future logins

On your next login you will enter your password and then be prompted for the one-time code which has been sent to your mobile phone.

I didn't receive the SMS code for login

  1. Ensure your mobile number is correct and has signal.
  2. Wait a few minutes and try again.
  3. If the issue persists, call the help desk to verify or update your mobile number.

I changed my mobile number

Call the helpdesk. You will be asked for your Username, PAC, PPSN and Date of Birth.

They will reset the number, so next time you log in you will need to enter your new number.

2. Agents

Use the guide below if you’re having trouble with your online Agent account.

I forgot my username

Following your online registration two letters are posted to you, one containing your username and one containing the PUK (personal unlocking key). If you cannot find these, call the help desk with your PPSN and Agent Identifier.

A username cannot be changed. Make sure to store it safely.

I forgot my password

Note: Agents will have to change their password every 120 days.

  1. Click 'Log In' on the homepage.
  2. Enter your username.
  3. On the password screen, click 'Forgot Password?'
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions using your Username, PUK, and Agent Identifier.

I forgot my PIN

Your PIN is generated during your first time setup. If forgotten follow these steps:

  1. Click 'Log In' on the homepage.
  2. Enter your username and password.
  3. On the PIN screen, click 'Forgot PIN?'
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions using your Username, PUK, PPSN, and Agent Identifier.

3. Companies

Use the guide below if you’re having trouble with your online Company account.

I forgot my username

Following your online registration two letters are posted to you, one containing your username and one containing the PUK (personal unlocking key). If you cannot find these, call the help desk with your username, PPSN and date of birth.

A username cannot be changed. Make sure to store it safely.

I forgot my password

Note: Companies will have to change their password every 120 days.

  1. Click 'Log In' on the homepage.
  2. Enter your username.
  3. On the password screen, click ‘Forgot Password?
  4. Answer your 3 secret questions.

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

For Company users using PIN to login this is being replaced by 2 Factor

Authentication. This adds an extra layer of security to your account by requiring a code from your phone in addition to your password.

For Company users using authentication app to login, nothing will change, continue

logging in with authentication app.

First time login SMS pass code setup

Future logins

On your next login you will enter your password and then be prompted for the one

time code which has been sent to your mobile phone.

4. Partners

  4. You will need your PPSN and date of birth.

For extra security, all Partner users must use the Microsoft Authenticator App to log in.

The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine provides a range of online services through agfood.ie.

Basic Income Support for Sustainability (BISS)

  • make applications online for BISS and other 2023 area based schemes
  • edit maps online relating your land parcels / plots
  • information on entitlements

Animal Identification and Movement System

Forestry Services

IFORIS Internet allows Registered Foresters:

  • to track online the progress of any pre-approval forestry application
  • to map and submit new pre-approval (Form 1) applications online for the Afforestation, FEPS and Forest Road Scheme
  • to access ortho-photography for the entire country, Environmental Statutory Designations and other relevant datasets to assist with Forestry applications

It also allows forest owners registered for online services with the department to apply for the Forestry annual premium online.

Register for IFORIS Internet through agfood.ie.

Financial Self-Services (FSS)

Customers can carry out the following activities:

  • view their financial data, including historical invoices and payments
  • pay invoices/overpayments electronically with Debit/Credit Card (with the back-end accounts system and the bank being updated simultaneously)
  • view, download and print payment remittances
  • view, download and print account statements (including annual farmer statements)

Customers of the department will access DAFM Financial Self-Services securely from the Single-Sign-On (SSO) through agfood.ie.

Other services

  • provides online access to the annual nitrogen and phosphorus statements issued by the department
  • make a Nitrates Derogation Application
  • license application system - licences in respect of veterinary medicines can be applied for online

These other services can be accessed through agfood.ie.

Information on Agriculture Agents

The Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine has decided that Agriculture Agents, who will be deemed by the department to be suitably qualified planners/ advisors/ consultants, can be registered with the department for the purpose of submitting scheme applications on behalf of their clients. Further information in relation to agriculture agents is available in the attached document.

New MyAgFood.ie platform

MyAgFood.ie, the new platform designed to make it easier to access, understand and use our department’s online services, will be formally launched by the Minister at the National Ploughing Championships.

In advance, our customers have the option to use the MyAgFood.ie platform to access our services or to continue to use AgFood.ie.

What is MyAgFood.ie?

MyAgFood.ie will in time replace agfood.ie and will offer our customers an enhanced user experience, including:

  • Personalised & Intuitive Dashboards
  • New Nitrates Planner – know your levels
  • Your Scheme Applications in one place
  • Instant overview of your animal numbers and upcoming tests
  • Easy access to your payment information

More new features and functionality will be added on a phased basis.

I am an existing user on agfood.ie - what do I need to do?

Existing agfood.ie users do not need to register on the new platform.

Your log-in details for agfood.ie and MyAgFood.ie are the same. Both platforms now use two-factor authentication for the log-in process
