How to seek approval
You must seek approval for events or temporary activities at the State’s Fishery Harbour Centres. This is done by completing an application form detailing the proposed activity. Fees at various rates are charged for approved activities.
The six Fishery Harbour Centres are:
- Howth, Co. Dublin
- Dunmore East, Co. Waterford
- Castletownbere, Co. Cork
- An Daingean (Dingle), Co. Kerry
- Ros an Mhíl (Rossaveel), Co. Galway
- Killybegs, Co Donegal
These harbours are managed and operated by the State to promote sea fishing and related industries as well as other economic and social development including leisure facilities.
What you must do
In the application form supplied you must provide details of:
- general safety including safety policy, safety statement and insurance policy
- key personnel including roles, responsibilities and contact details
- stewarding and security plan
- traffic management plan
- crowd control, giving details of expected number of attendees, points of access and egress
- emergency plan
The plan should also include details of medical and first aid provision, outlining your plans and locations such as provision and location of doctors, paramedics, ambulances and first aiders.
In addition, you must include your proposals for:
- health and welfare issues such as sanitary provision and drinking water
- fire safety and details of fire equipment
- environmental impacts and monitoring
- communication facilities such as details of your PA system, telephones and radio communications on land and water
- temporary structures including details of your location, loadings and power requirements
- lighting, outlining your additional lighting requirements, ESB, and certification
- breakdowns, wet weather and storm contingency planning
- maps and drawings giving relevant details such as location of berths, dimensions of cordoned zones, and location of access points
