Following the appointment of Mr. Roderic O’Gorman TD as Minister for Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth and in accordance with the Public Service Management Act 1997, we are developing a new Statement of Strategy for the period 2021-2023.
The Department continues to have wide responsibility for policy, legislation and services in respect of children and young people. In addition, a number of new functions have transferred to the Department from the Department of Justice and Equality, with effect from 14 October as follows:
- Gender Equality
- Disability Policy
- Migrant Integration Policy
- Traveller and Roma Inclusion Policy
- LGBTI+ Inclusion Policy
- Work-Life Balance and Supports for Working Parents and Caring Responsibility
- Funding Streams Associated with Policy Work Transferring
The following work streams also now come under our Department’s remit:
- Integration Service Delivery
- Magdalen Restorative Justice
- International Protection Accommodation Service (IPAS) and International Protection Procurement Service (IPPS)
A small number of existing functions have transferred from the Department as follows:
- Bail Supervision Scheme
- Greentown Project
- Research Evidence into Practice Project (REPP)
- Legislation: Alternative Sentencing
Our Strategy will be informed by the Programme for Government, key Government priorities, policy frameworks and other significant issues, and will set out our high-level goals for the period 2021-2023.
The Statement of Strategy will define our vision, mission and goals for that period, as we look to build upon the progress made on our last Statement of Strategy 2016 – 2019. It will set out our high-level goals as well as the strategies and high-level actions to be progressed to achieve our mission.
In order to assist you in your considerations, please note the following document:
We are now seeking your views on any key strategic issues which you would like considered in the development of the new Statement of Strategy.
We would like to thank you in advance for your feedback, which can be submitted to dcyastrategy@dcya.gov.ie until the close of business, Friday November 13, 2020.
