The education facility at the National Centre will be a central point for access, pathways, and progression to education across the National Framework of Qualifications Levels 1-8 in the North East Inner City. Education provision in the National Centre will be linked to a wider provision of further and higher education opportunities, stretching from Cathal Brugha Street to Grangegorman.
Under the new name of City of Dublin FET (Further education and training) College, City of Dublin ETB (Education and Training Board) will lead the delivery of several full and part-time education and training courses. Collaborating with Technological University Dublin (TU Dublin), City of Dublin ETB will provide access to options for young people and adult learners to gain the skills and qualifications they need for employment, for lifelong learning and for everyday life.
A coordinated and collaborative approach will ensure that TU Dublin and City of Dublin ETB continue to provide learner-centred, accessible, and innovative education pathways and programmes that align with the purpose of the National Centre and learner needs.
City of Dublin FET College FET Guidance and Information Service will be in the education facility offering impartial information and advice to help individuals to choose the most suitable course across a range of education options available in the city and beyond.
City of Dublin ETB’s vision for the FET Campus in the North Inner City is to place the FET College provision at the National Centre facility as a focal point for access, pathways, and progression in the North East Inner City.
Youthreach will have a dedicated space for delivery which will be shared with all other FET provision as appropriate. Adult and Community Education and Pathways to Apprenticeship programmes will also be co-located here to create an initial access point to the FET College offering a well-supported and dedicated route to further training and education and into neighbouring Higher Education providers.
FET Pathways programmes will be specifically linked to provision across City of Dublin FET College and TU Dublin and will include pathways to programmes in several disciplines.
Tertiary degree programmes currently in development will be available in the National Centre co-delivered by City of Dublin FET College and TU Dublin staff. Transition from Further Education to Higher Education will be completely seamless, through the development of shared curriculum, teaching collaboration, programme co-design and co-delivery within shared space and shared student experience.
Micro-credential and Micro-qualification courses are designed to meet the evolving needs of learners, enterprises and society and offer short, stackable accredited courses, tailored to fit work and other commitments.
City of Dublin ETB is currently developing a community engagement process in collaboration with TU Dublin and aims to hold local consultation opportunities across the community in 2025-26.
TU Dublin and City of Dublin ETB look forward to continuing to collaborate on this unique development and will continue to work together to respond to feedback from the consultation to deliver high quality FET and Higher Education programmes in the National Centre.
