Minister for Children, Disability and Equality, Norma Foley, today announced €1.7 million in funding for projects under the 2025 LGBTIQ+ Community Services Fund.
The overall aim of the 2025 LGBTIQ+ Community Services Fund is to promote inclusion, protect rights and to improve quality of life and wellbeing for members of the LGBTIQ+ community enabling them to participate fully in Ireland's social, economic, cultural, and political life.
Grants of up to €100,000 are being provided to 43 LGBTIQ+ community service-based projects.
Welcoming the announcement, Minister Foley said:
“I am delighted to announce this funding for projects at a national, regional and local level to ensure that LGBTIQ+ persons across Ireland can avail of these crucial supports and continue to thrive in their communities.
Funding of over €1.7 million will enable 43 organisations to support LGBTIQ+ persons in a range of ways including frontline community supports, counselling services, youth supports and Pride celebrations.
The continued interest in the Community Services Fund over the last five years demonstrates the willingness of communities around the country to support LGBTIQ+ persons.
The National LGBTIQ+ Inclusion Strategy II 2024-2028 was also published this year and outlines the government’s commitment to responding to continued challenges facing the LGBTIQ+ community and ensuring they are supported in realising their rights."
The 2025 LGBTIQ+ Community Services Funding Call is an important element in achieving overall objective of the National LGBTIQ+ Inclusion Strategy II.
The National LGBTIQ+ Inclusion Strategy II reflects the Government’s commitment to fostering a safe, fair, and inclusive society for the LGBTIQ+ community; a society in which they can live inclusive, healthy, and fulfilling lives.
The Pillars on which this Strategy is built: Safety, Health and Wellbeing, Participation and Inclusion, and Equality and Non-Discrimination seek to directly confront the continuing challenges faced by LGBTIQ+ people today.
There are two streams of funding under the LGBTIQ+ Community Services Fund:
- Scheme A was open to applications from existing LGBTIQ+ NGOs and community organisations working with the LGBTIQ+ community to support new initiatives and to maintain and enhance existing services and initiatives. Grant funding of €25,000 - €100,000 is available.
- Scheme B will provide small grants to organisations for projects that promote visibility and inclusion of LGBTIQ+ persons. Grant funding of €5,000 - €10,000 is available.
The 2025 LGBTI+ Community Services Funding Call for proposals ran from 27 June 2025 – 30 July 2025.
