Minister Joe O’Brien announces 18 projects to be funded under the National Integration Fund 2023

  • €2.9 million will be made available to 18 organisations, over three years, to carry out national & regional projects supporting the integration of migrants.

The Minister of State for Community Development, Integration and Charities, Joe O’Brien, today announced the 18 projects set to receive €2,872,412 in funding, over a period of three years, under the National Integration Fund 2023.

The NIF was established in response to Action 6 of The Migrant Integration Strategy – A Blueprint for the Future, which calls for funding to be made available to promote positive action initiatives to address areas where migrants find it difficult to avail of opportunities on an equal basis with other members of Irish society.

Welcoming the announcement, Minister O’Brien said:

“The 18 projects awarded funding today under the National Integration Fund have set forth ambitious proposals to help further their work in supporting the successful integration of people arriving into Ireland hoping to create a life for themselves and their families. The National Integration Fund is a crucial tool in helping to equip community groups to continue this vital work.

"I am conscious that there are far more engaged in this hugely important integration work than just the 18 announced today and that is why the National Integration Fund is yet another step in the ongoing work at government level to financially support communities with integration measures.

"Last week I announced the Community Integration Fund and I will shortly be announcing the opening of the latest round of the Asylum Migration and Integration Fund. I want to continue to work with and support the community groups who are doing Trojan work in supporting people and communities."

Notes

The 2023 National Integration Fund call for proposals ran from 2 October 2023 – 1 November 2023. €861,724 has been made available per year, for three years, to support the 18 successful projects through grant funding of €25,000 - €200,000 per successful project.
