This report is a review of the Children and Young People’s Services Committees (CYPSC) initiative, conducted by the Centre for Effective Services (CES).
Children and Young People’s Services Committees (CYPSC) bring together a diverse group of agencies across the statutory, community and voluntary sectors in local county areas to engage in joint planning of services for children and young people.
As local multi-agency, interagency structures with a remit to improve outcomes for children and young people, CYPSC develop a profile of children and young people their county/area to support a shared understanding across multiple organisations and agencies regarding the support services currently available, including service gaps.
Policy and strategic direction for the CYPSC initiative is provided by the Department of Children, Disability and Equality. In late 2023, the Department commissioned CES to review how well CYPSC is working. It is expected that the findings and recommendations of the CES review will inform the future policy and strategic direction of CYPSC.
The report is an independent review of the initiative that does not necessarily reflect the Department’s positions.
