Principal Officer, Legal

The Legal Unit provides legal advice to all units in the Department including on legislation, litigation and transposition and implementation of EU law. Responsibility at Principal Officer level is to lead the legal team, provide legal advice and to liaise with the Chief State Solicitor’s Office (CSSO) and the Attorney General’s Office (AGO) and external legal advisers as required; ensuring the required communication flow occurs between the Department, the CSSO and the AGO.
