Koen Verbruggen

Koen Verbruggen, as Director of Geological Survey Ireland (GSI), has responsibility for delivery of the GSI Business Plan, and for enabling the provision of geoscience data and providing technical leadership across the range of activities and projects GSI engage in. Priorities include the Historic Mine Sites Project, support of the Critical Raw Materials Act, the INFOMAR, Tellus, Groundwater Resources, Groundwater Flooding and Geothermal Programmes, which are all supported by geological mapping. The Construction Materials/Quarry programme is funded directly by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage (DHLGH). Projects are funded by the Department of Climate, Energy and the Environment (DCEE), other government bodies, InterReg and EU research programmes.
