December 2025 Sustainable Development Goals National Stakeholder Forum

A meeting of the National Stakeholder Forum took place on Tuesday, 2 December 2025 online and in University College Cork on the theme SDG Localisation - SDGs Working Locally.

Minister of State at the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, Christopher O'Sullivan TD opened the day's proceedings along with Cllr Fergal Dennehy, Lord Mayor of Cork and Prof John O'Halloran, President of UCC. Dr Niamh Shaw, recently voted one of Ireland's leading science communicators and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths) specialist set the scene for both the morning and afternoon sessions. There was also a panel discussion with representatives from the Department of Climate, Energy and the Environment and the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage. 4 workshops took place on the themes of:

  • Communicating the SDGs – bringing the message home
  • Synergies for Success – Identifying Potential for Community collaboration.
  • Localising the SDGs – Charting Ireland's Path to Voluntary Local Reviews
  • Healthy Cities – Urban living in an SDG informed world
