A meeting of the National Stakeholder Forum took place on Thursday, 6 June 2024 online and at Croke Park on the theme Transformative Education for Sustainable Development – Reaching the Furthest Behind First.
Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications Eamon Ryan opened the event and presentations from the Department of Education, Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science (DFHERIS), Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth (DCEDIY), AONTAS and Education for Sustainability followed. The Minister was then joined on the morning panel by Assistant Secretaries Dalton Tatton from the Department of Education, Keith Moynes from DFHERIS and Anne Marie Brooks from DCEDIY. There were also several lived experience presentations on the day, including by Dr Katriona O'Sullivan, Associate Professor, Maynooth University and Rachel Kuhn from Wicklow Democratic School and Noel Clancy from the Farmer Time Programme
There were 4 workshops on the following themes:
- Global Citizenship Education
- Healthy Communities
- Education in the Community
- Accessing Education
