Geological Survey Ireland (GSI) is the State's geoscience body, providing geoscience data, maps, information, advice and partnering in a range of areas. They support policy development by the Department of Climate, Energy and the Environment (DCEE) in the Geoscience Policy Section, offshore renewable energy (ORE), research and other sections and other departments such as the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage (DHLGH) in areas of water/groundwater and construction materials/aggregates. GSI also deliver the national marine mapping programme INFOMAR with the Marine Institute and the Tellus airborne geophysics and ground geochemistry mapping programme.
