Principal Officer, Air, Noise and EPA Licencing

The Principal Officer leading the Air, Noise and EPA Licencing Section is responsible for policy and legislation and works with the Environment and Climate Research and Advisory Section, across:

• Environmental Protection Agency industrial licensing (Industrial Emissions / Integrated Pollution Control) including Environment (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill 2025 and EIA Extraction of Peat (infringement)
• Environmental Noise Directive and noise nuisance under the EPA Act 1992
• Ambient Air Quality (including Air Pollution (Amendment) Bill, 2025, solid fuel regulations, ambient air quality monitoring network)
• Clean Air Strategy (including annual progress reports to government)
• Ozone Depleting Substances (ODS)
• Fluorinated Gases (F-gases)
• Fuel Quality Directive
• Mercury (Minamata Convention / dental amalgam)
• Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) (Stockholm Convention)
• Contained use / deliberate release / transboundary movement of genetically modified organisms
• Transposition of the IED 2.0
• Transposition of the revised Ambient Air Quality Directive
• Transposition of the Environmental Crime Directive
• Leading on the Green Claims Directive file
