Principal Officer, Renewable Electricity

The Renewable Electricity Section supports the work of the Minister for Climate, Energy and the Environment and government in the development of onshore renewable electricity policy to support Ireland's target of 80% of electricity demand to be supplied by renewable energy sources and to reach a net-zero energy system by 2050 by supporting the development of and investment in onshore renewable electricity, particularly wind and solar. The section leads on the Accelerating Renewable Electricity Taskforce, oversees the Renewable Electricity Support Scheme (RESS) auction programme and Small-Scale Renewable Electricity Support Scheme (SRESS), as well as leading on community renewable energy policy, spatial planning for onshore wind and solar technologies as well as the Decarbonised Electricity System Study and onshore renewable electricity.
