The Circular Economy Innovation Grant Scheme (CEIGS) is a Government of Ireland initiative led by the Department of Climate, Energy and the Environment (DCEE)
The purpose of this grants scheme is to provide support to projects which work in the circular economy space, with the aim of advancing the circular economy in Ireland and raising awareness of the need to transition to a circular economy.
By funding these projects and enterprises, the CEIGS directly supports the growth of the circular economy in Ireland and provides high-profile examples of best practice.
The CEIGS was established by the department in 2021, and since that first call, CEIGS funding totalling €1,790,000 has been awarded to 36 projects covering a wide range of circular economy themes including food waste, plastics, single-use plastics, packaging, construction, textiles and general waste.
Funding | Projects | |
2021 | 490,000 | 10 |
2022 | 650,000 | 13 |
2024 | 650,000 | 13 |

- Plastics: Redesigning products or packaging to replace non-recyclable or virgin plastic with recyclable alternatives.
- Construction & Demolition Waste: Creating reusable construction products or enabling selective demolition for material recovery.
- Food Waste: Implementing technical or behavioural interventions to reduce waste in production and commercial settings.
- Resources & Raw Materials: Enhancing recovery of critical raw materials and reducing hazardous substances in products.
Full details on the application process for the CEIGS are available at the Community Foundation Ireland's website and applications are open until 8th October 2025.
