Sharon Barry

Culture Ireland is responsible for the promotion of Irish arts worldwide and helping Irish artists to achieve their global ambitions. Supporting opportunities for Irish artists and companies to present their work at strategic international festivals, venues and arts markets, thereby facilitating sustainable international careers. This is made possible by the regular funding scheme supporting the international presentation of work by Irish artists and companies. Culture Ireland also:

  • Commissions the Irish Pavillion at the Venice Biennale in partnership with the Arts Council;
  • Delivers special initiatives in strategic territories to grow the worldwide audience for Irish arts;
  • Leads on the delivery of the cultural aspects of the Government’s Global Ireland Strategy;

Cultural Supports Unit operate the Basic Income for the Arts pilot scheme, and delivers the accompanying research project examining the impact of paying artists a weekly Basic Income.
