The department is obliged under prompt payment legislation, pursuant to Government Decision S29296 of 19 May 2009, 2/8 March 2011, and 28 March 2017 to pay suppliers within 15 days of receipt of a valid invoice and to publish quarterly composite returns covering both the department and bodies under its aegis. These reports are also submitted to the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment which collates the returns of all central government departments.
